About Martin Fowler
Martin Fowler was born in North London in 1952.When he left school in 1970 he trained in stage management at the Connaught theatre in Worthing. He went on to become a stage manager at other repertory theatres in the South of England including Hornchurch where he met his future wife Melita, and at the Palace Theatre in Watford.
They moved to Farnborough in Hampshire where he became stage manager of the council run theatre in Aldershot. They later moved to Windsor and he was responsible for running the theatre and concert hall stages at another civic venue in Slough.
After twelve years working in the theatre they moved back to Cenarth in West - Wales his wife’s family home. For the next fourteen years they ran the village post office and general stores. During this time they bought and restored the sixteenth century flour mill in the village. The National Coracle Centre was built in the grounds of the mill and opened in 1991 and houses a collection of such craft from Wales and around the World.
